Cinder by Marissa Meyer-Review

“Even in the Future the Story Begins with Once Upon a Time.”

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl.
Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

It was a little hard for me to get into this book at first, maybe because I’m not a huge fan of robots and cyborgs, but after I passed the first 80 pages I couldn’t put it down because I wanted to know what would happen next.So if any of you start reading this book, the beggining is a bit slow but don’t give up,trust me,all the good stuff will come.

Cinder was an amazing main character. She lives with her stepmother, stepsisters and Iko the android, who is Cinder’s best friend.I felt so sorry for her throughout the book because everywhere she turned there was another problem she had to face:disease, heartbreak, pain. And despite all that she still managed to have a sense of humour.

Favourite quote:“I’m sure I’ll feel much more grateful when I find a guy who thinks complex wiring in a girl is a turn-on.”

Prince Kai is another character who has a very hard life. There are so many conflicts going on and he is all alone. His father, the emperor, died, his people are dying from the plague and the cure has not 0323075b36164a1f14c080e6b69573eeyet been discovered. To top it all off,Levana, the Lunar queen has decided to pay them a visit. But,he makes all the right choices in my oppinion showing that he will be an amazing emperor.
Favourite quote:“Imagine there was a cure, but finding it would cost you7c780b8268727db6f9cbb582cb649deb everything. It would completely ruin your life. What would you do?”

Queen Levana is the main antagonist of the series.17a8dad207a7aecbc9ede013c347c76a

She has special Lunar powers that allow her to “glamour” others. She can trick people into siding with her, making them admire her, fall in love with her, and much more.I don’t know who is the most evil:she or Cinder’s stepmother,Adri?I really hope that in the end she get’s 9e497b3240bd268053962cb05ff8726da taste of her own medicine.

The ending of the book left me with so many questions, and although this book wasn’t very amazing I still liked it and I will pick up the second one because I really want to know what happens next.

P.S:I really hope this is how Cinder and Kai’s story ends:

Books I want to read in 2015(Part 1)

Because it’s the beginning of a new year I wanted to make a list of books that i find really interesting and that I really want to read.I have so many books on my to be read list that is hard to choose which one to read and many times I end up reading books that are not on that list. This year I decided it’s time to shorten that list so here are some of the books that I plan on reading in 2015:

The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

The series follows Tessa Gray, an orphaned teenage girl who discovers she has the power to shapeshift, but doesn’t bear a mark that shows she is a warlock, and abilities that plunge her into a world she never knew existed. She will have to learn to master them if she wants to find her brother Nate and she will have to forge an alliance with Shadowhunters if she wants to survive in this dangerous world.

I heard so many good things about this series that I think it’s time to pick them up and read them.Plus the covers are GORGEOUS!!

Anna dressed in blood by Kendare Blake

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill.Searching for a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas expects the usual: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.Yet she spares Cas’s life.

I really love ghost stories and I’m a really huge fan of horror movies,so this books sounds perfect for me.

The Edge Of Never by J.A.Redmerski

Twenty-year-old Camryn has always felt different from everyone else around her – not content to be tied down by life’s conventions, she’s always known that she wants a life less ordinary. But when tragedy forces her to abandon her plans, she vows never to let her walls down again – and never to fall in love. But one night in the hottest club in town, her world is turned upside down. the-edge-of-neverDesperate to escape, Camryn packs up the bare necessities and boards the next bus leaving town, to find the true self she knows is out there. What she finds instead is a young man who is more like her than she knows.

I’m not a big fan of romance stories, but this one sounds really interesting and realistic and it has really high ratings so we will see.

The bronze horseman by Paullina Simons

During the summer of 1941 the Metanov family are living a hard lifeBronzehorseman.jpg in Leningrad. As the German armies advance their future looks bleak. For Tatiana, love arrives in the guise of Alexander, who harbours a deadly and extraordinary secret.

It is very rare that I read a historical book so i thought i should try reading one and who knows, maybe I will really like it.

Gabriel’s Inferno by Sylvain Reynard

Enigmatic and sexy, Professor Gabriel Emerson is a well-respected Dante specialist by day, but by night he devotes himself to an uninhibited life of pleasure. He uses his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm to gratify his every whim, but is secretly tortured by his dark past and consumed by the profound belief that he is beyond all hope of redemption. When the sweet and innocent Julia Mitchell enrolls as his graduate student, his attraction and mysterious connection to her not only jeopardizes his career, but sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide.

My friends has been obsessed with this book since she read it and every time we meet she tells me to read it so we can obsessed about it together. So,I’m going to read it and i will let you guys know if i will become obsessed with it.

So,that’s it for now.If you read any of this books please tell me in the comments how much did you like them, and also if you like please share your 2015 to be read list with me.I would really like that.Until next time, bye!!

4.The inventions of wings by Sue Monk Kidd

Hetty “Handful” Grimke, an urban slave in early nineteenth century Charleston, yearns for life beyond the suffocating walls that enclose her within the wealthy Grimke household. The Grimke’s daughter, Sarah, has known from an early age she is meant to do something large in the world, but she is hemmed in by the limits imposed on women.

Kidd’s sweeping novel is set in motion on Sarah’s eleventh birthday, when she is given ownership of ten year old Handful, who is to be her handmaid. We follow their remarkable journeys over the next thirty-five years, as both strive for a life of their own, dramatically shaping each other’s destinies and forming a complex relationship marked by guilt, defiance, estrangement and the uneasy ways of love.
As the stories build to a riveting climax, Handful will endure loss and sorrow, finding courage and a sense of self in the process. Sarah will experience crushed hopes, betrayal, unrequited love, and ostracism before leaving Charleston to find her place alongside her fearless younger sister, Angelina, as one of the early pioneers in the abolition and women’s rights movements.

5.Landline by Rainbow Rowell

Georgie McCool knows her marriage is in trouble;it has been in trouble for a long time. She still loves her husband, Neal, and Neal still loves her, deeply — but that almost seems beside the point now.

Maybe that was always beside the point.

Two days before they’re supposed to visit Neal’s family in Omaha for Christmas, Georgie tells Neal that she can’t go. She’s a TV writer, and something’s come up on her show; she has to stay in Los Angeles. She knows that Neal will be upset with her — Neal is always a little upset with Georgie — but she doesn’t expect him to pack up the kids and go home without her.

When her husband and the kids leave for the airport, Georgie wonders if she’s finally done it. If she’s ruined everything.

That night, Georgie discovers a way to communicate with Neal in the past. It’s not time travel, not exactly, but she feels like she’s been given an opportunity to fix her marriage before it starts . . .

Is that what she’s supposed to do?

Or would Georgie and Neal be better off if their marriage never happened?

My favourite books (Part 2)

The main character of this book is a seventeen-year-old girl named Penryn. It’s been six weeks since angels appeared and started destroying the modern world. When angels kidnapp her little sister,Penryn will resort to anything to get her sister back, including making a deal with the enemy.

Raffe is a warrior angel that has been left to die on the streets with no wings. He is saved by Penryn and together they go on a dark journey with only each other to rely on.

Now,don’t be deceived by this beautiful cover. This is a dark, apocalyptic story with evil angels, murders and a lot of creepy stuff. The characters in this book are amazing and the author manages to make us see the world that she built as if we were there. This is the first book in the series, the second it’s already out and the third will be released in 2015.

The Selection is the chance for thirty-five girls to change their entire life. The chance to wear glittering gowns, priceless jewels,to live in a palace and to compete for the heart of Prince Maxon.

Every girl dreams of this chance, but for America Singer being selected is a nightmare. That means leaving her secret boyfriend,Aspen, behind her, leaving her home and her family to compete for something she doesn’t even want.

Then she meets the prince, and she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself.

This was actually one of the best book I ever read.Once I started reading it I couldn’t stop and when I finished it I couldn’t stop thinking about it.I seriously hope they’re going to turn this book into a movie because it’s amazing.

Yelena is offered a choice:a quick death or slow poison.

When she is about to be executed for murder,Yelenna receives an oportunity to become a food taster. She will live in the palace, eat the best meals and risk getting poisoned by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia.

To stop her from escaping, the chief of security feeds her Butterfly’s Dust, and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death.

A lot of disasters start happening, rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops powers she can’t control.

I loved everything about this book:the heroine, the world that the author created and of course the main love interest,Valek. Also the entire details about the poisons is very fascinating.

I really hope that I convinced you,at least a little,to pick up this books and read them. They are so amazing and interesting that you won’t regret spending your time reading them.If you have any favourite books please tell me in the comments,I would love to hear your oppinions.Bye

Throne of glass by Sarah J. Maas- Review

Throne of glass is the first book in the Throne of glass series. The author said the series will have 5 or 6 books which I am so excited about.
The main character of this book,Celaena Sardothien,is an 18-year-old asassin. Her parents died when she was young and the king of the asassins took her in and trained her to be the world’s most notorius killer. When she was 17 she got caught and she was sent to a death camp called Endovier. After one year of hard work,Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. If she beats her opponents, she will serve the king for 4 years and then she will be granted her freedom.

Celaena has training sessions with the captain of the guard,Chaol Westfall, who seems the only person who can understand her best, and then one day one of her opponents is found dead, followed by another.

As she starts her investigation on who the killer is,Celaena discovers things that will change her life completely.

Celaena Sardothien

cae9616ce5ac610c3200689702c1e0a2     She is an incredible strong person,a model for all female readers.I love how she never gives up,even if the situation is overwhelming. She likes to read and loves pretty dresses.198d40fc2f108c53023383d7c2accceb

Favourite quote:,,We all bear scars, mine just happen to be more visible than most.”celaena2

Prince Dorian Havilliard

Dorian is the pri9d46091e7164c8261009e6e6256ec0a1nce of Adarlan. There aa049f218b23b84bbfd6cf12778b5625is a lot more to him than he first shows. At the beginning of the book we have this image of a womanizer presented to us,which he used to be,but as the story goes on we find that he is actually an incredibly sweet person. He loves animals and enjoys reading very much.He is sarcastic and funny and my heart melted when he gave Celaena that cute puppy as a gift.

Favourite quote:,,What’s the point in having a heart if you do not use it to spare others from the harsh judgements of your mind?”

Chaol Westfall

Chaol gave 479f5700a5f746d99dad7eddc3a19e24up his title as lord of anielle and became the captain of the guard. He helps Celaena with her trainings and he is also Prince Dorian’s best friend. He doesn’t show his emotions, throughout the book I can count on my fingers how many times he shows his actual feelings.

Favourite quote:,,Hope. You cannot steal it,no matter how many you rip from their homes and enslave. And you cannot break it,no matter how many you murder.”

I am really excited to read the next books.Although I like both Dorian and Chaol,I can’t help but love Dorian more.Anyway,we will see what happens in the next books.Hope you enjoyed my review!!!

My favourite books (Part 1)

When I was little I dreaded the idea of spending a single day inside the house reading. There were so many other things that were way more interesting(in my opinion back then),but my mother always and always insisted that I should start reading because I was old enough and reading was an exciting thing to do.I remember one Christmas she bought me the first three books in the Harry Potter series and I was so disappointed but never told her.Anyway fast forward a couple of months,I was stuck in the house and I had nothing to do so I picked up the first Harry Potter book.I ended up staying all night to finish it and liked it so much that I used all the money that I saved to buy the other 4 books in the series.

After finishing the series,I continued reading, whatever I could find,I also started buying more books and whenever I was free I would have a book in my hands.

harry-potter-seriesSo I guess it’s very obvious that the Harry Potter series are some of my favourite books. For those of you that never read the series ,these books are about a boy called Harry who discovers that he is a wizard and has been accepted to Hogwarts,a special school for all the young wizards.Hogwarts is also the place where he will make friends, enemies, find love and face many dangerous threats.I recomend this series to everyone:children, teenagers, adults.

A book that mad9780143107026_p0_v1_s260x420e me cry for hours and that touched my soul was The lady of the camellias.
The book is about the tragic love between Marguerite Gautier,a beautiful  and expensive courtesan and Armand Duval, young and handsome but not  very rich.
It is so beautifully written and while I was reading it I could feel all the emotions that the characters were feeling.
If you are a hopeless romantic like I am this is the book for you but I warn you, prepare the tissues because you will cry.

The Iron King is first book in The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa.I bought this recently because it seemed really interesting and had a beautiful6644117 cover(yes,I’m a sucker for beautiful covers). The story is about Megan Chase,a girl whose father disappeared before her eyes when she was six,and who feels like she doesn’t fit in anywhere. Her whole life changes when a dark stranger begins watchingher from afar and she learns the truth about her existence. This book was perfect,it had everything:adventure, action, mystery, love. What morecould you ask for?If you have not read this book, pick it up quickly.
